Canadian Healthcare Association Privacy Policy
By purchasing our products or using our website or our services, you consent to
the collection, use and disclosure of your Personal Data (defined below) in
accordance with the following terms and conditions.
Our Commitment To Privacy
The Canadian Healthcare Association (“CHA”, “we” or “us”) is committed to
respecting your privacy. We recognize your need for appropriate protection and
management of any personally identifiable data you share with us. For the
purpose of this Privacy Statement, “Personal Data” means data about an
identifiable individual. To assist you, we provide this Privacy Statement to
explain our data practices and the choices you can make about the way your
Personal Data may be collected, used and disclosed by us.
Data Collected and How We Use It
This Statement applies to all Personal Data about our customers collected by or
submitted to the Canadian Healthcare Association through our CHA.ca website or
by any other means. We collect your Personal Data only when you voluntarily
provide it. If the purposes for which the Personal Data is to be used or
disclosed are not reasonably obvious from the circumstances, we will inform you
of the purpose(s) for which the Personal Data is being collected. Typically, we
will seek consent for the use or disclosure of your Personal Data at the time
of collection. In certain circumstances consent may be sought after the data
has been collected but before use (for example, when we want to use data for a
purpose not previously identified). We do not, as a condition of the supply of
a product or service, require you to consent to the collection, use or
disclosure of Personal Data beyond what is necessary to provide the product or
service.
In general, you can visit our website without telling us who you are or
revealing Personal Data. It will be clear to you when you are on a part of our
website that collects Personal Data because we will ask you for it and explain
the purposes for which it is being collected. Through our website we collect
two types of information about visitors: Personal Data (such as name, address,
e-mail address, phone number, credit/debit card information, user IDs and
passwords, and educational and employment background) and non-personal data
(such as data about the number of visitors to our sites, the pages they access,
the pages they come from, their IP addresses, etc.)
We collect, maintain, and use the Personal Data you voluntarily submit to
provide the service or carry out the transaction you requested or authorized.
This may involve using your Personal Data to fulfill your requests for
information, to fulfill your orders for products and services, to register your
products, to provide you with customer support or to process your job
application.
If you have not opted out of receiving promotional materials from us we may also
use (but will not disclose) your Personal Data to promote and market additional
products, services and special offers from us that may be of interest to you.
You can choose not to allow us to use your Personal Data for the
above-described marketing purposes by indicating your preference at the time of
collection of your Personal Data or by contacting us as set out below.
You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual
restrictions and reasonable notice. If you wish to withdraw your consent at any
time, please contact our Privacy Officer at privacy@cha or Canadian Healthcare
Association, 17 York Street, Ottawa, Ontario K1N 9J6. We will inform you of the
implications of withdrawing consent.
We collect non-personal data to analyze how the website is used. This helps us
optimize a visitor’s experience on the site by, for example, remembering
passwords, streamlining navigation, and providing information that will be most
helpful to that individual.
Personal Data collected online may be combined with data you provide CHA in
other ways, such as through product registrations, service calls, or trade
shows in order to help us improve our products and services and better serve
your needs.
Data Sharing and Transfer
We do not rent, sell, license or trade your Personal Data with or to others for
marketing purposes. CHA may engage third-party service providers and share your
Personal Data with such parties to assist us in delivering the requested
products or services to you. These service providers are prohibited from using
your Personal Data for any purpose other than to provide this assistance and
are required to protect your Personal Data using security measures comparable
to those employed by CHA.
Except with your consent, we will not use or share the Personal Data you provide
to us for purposes other than those you consented to at the time you provided
us your data. Except as described in this Privacy Statement, we do not share
your Personal Data with third parties without your consent, unless required or
authorized by law or court order or as necessary to protect the rights,
property, and safety of others and ourselves.
Your Choices
You may choose whether or not to provide Personal Data to CHA. The notice we
provide to you whenever CHA collects your Personal Data will explain the
purpose for which the data is being collected and should help you to make this
choice. If you choose not to provide the Personal Data we request online, you
can still visit most of CHA’s web pages, but you may be unable to access
certain options, offers, and services that involve our interaction with you.
If you choose to have a relationship with CHA, such as a contractual or other
business relationship, we will naturally continue to contact you in connection
with that business relationship.
Data Security
CHA is committed to protecting the Personal Data you provide to us. This
protection applies in relation to information stored in both electronic and
hard copy form. We take commercially reasonable steps to protect your Personal
Data against unauthorized access and to maintain the accuracy and proper use of
the information by means of appropriate physical, technical and organizational
measures. We employ generally accepted information security techniques, such as
firewalls, access control procedures and cryptography and encrypt sensitive
information, such as credit card numbers, whenever it is transmitted
electronically, to protect against loss and unauthorized access.
Retention of Your Personal Data
CHA retains your Personal Data for as long as necessary to fulfill the
purpose(s) for which it was collected and to comply with applicable laws, and
your consent to such purposes(s) remains valid after termination of our
relationship with you.
